  4. I believe that the painting of the american flamingo is trying to show how long the legs and neck are compared to it's body. Also it shows the habitat that the flamingo lives in.

    1. The distance and also the ladder itself, I think, have this neverending aspect. Yes, it does depend on how you look at it. Perhaps racial equality is a never-ending process... perhaps there is an end to it.

    1. Yes, sometimes strength is just strength, not so beautiful... but sometimes it is beautiful... which is perhaps what Eakins intends in this painting.

    1. You are a young man of few words! You were of course FREE to use a few words... and, yes, the painting itself is meant as a visualization of Freedom of Speech... so you are actually quite accurate here !

  11. the ladder for Booker T. Washington was crafted by Martin Puryear and after was dedicated. Booker did not inspire Martin to craft the ladder. this ladder looks large and starts almost a foot wide then narrows until it joins at the staggering 85 feet tall top.

    1. An excellent point of study concerning what you found out through your research... that the painting is, among other things, an exercise in skill with which the artist challenged herself.

  18. The image of "Portrait Of A Boy" is a painting of a boy from named Homer, who is the son of Augustus Saint-Gaudens and, as stated on CMOA, "the picture is a technical tour de force as well as a striking example, in its faithful echo of the child's petulant resignation, of the artist's sensitivity to psychological realism."
